just a few simple phrases
to assure you really know
I havent always been there
but I've always loved you so
you have always known that I am your dad
but I never knew how to show it
I have always hoped you would understand
& not be ashamed to know it
I cannot change the past
but this much I can do
I can try my very best
& hope all your dreams come true
my love for you it's been alive
just hid so deep inside
I did not want to interfere
or let someone hurt my pride
but now it's time I'm speaking out
this time I will be seen
the oldest of my little girls
is now my full grown queen
we have been kept apart
for so many many years
holding back the pain inside
& hiding all the tears
I knew one day you would find me
your heart is built that way
I finally get to look at you
& with all my heart I'll say
I love you very much
& this is not a lie
I have prayed I'd get to tell you
& explain the reason why
when your mother past away
they removed you from my world
they felt I could not Raise
my precious little girl
now you want to know everything
all about me you want to know it
the first thing that you need to know
once I find a way to show it
I saw you reading all these poems
with a sparkle in your eye's
you said you liked the style
but your yet to realize
I am the one behind them
& soon now you will see
I put my feelings into words
my life is poetry
