"Love's Long Division"
Lately I find that I can't find myself
These days have become a smoky haze
Well, hold the phone, I'm all alone
These days I find myself in a daze
And when will we realize my friends
That with love, we can never win?
Move too slow and you're too hesitant
Then you watch as she slips away
But act too sure and you're too definite
Then you watch as she runs away
"Oh, you've got to understand," she says
But then, I'm always forced to understand
Why can't I be one of the fortunate ones?
And why can't I be a part of something beautiful?
And so I'll never be able to heal these incisions
Because I find love to be long division
And the lonliest number of all is three
Because her divided by him leaves a remainder of me
