Love's Execution

And the smiles glow inside our eyes as we watch the murder on the stage We are dancing to the soundtrack of our lies Like a pen on an empty page
There are songs from a wounded heart As it all begins to come unstitched Here we are falling apart but we just stand with eyes bewitched
Now, you're here without your clothes You want to know why I move so slow You say, "Come on boy, now here I am Let us meet like time's hands"
But underneath the sheets are only ghosts of all the things we miss the most I'd rather know what lies beneath your skin Before I go crashing down again
But now here I am, I've lost my handle Torn to pieces, a heart dismantled You forgot what I was whispering about when I said don't let it all burn out
And again, I was cut down where I stood by Love, in her executioner's hood As the fabric came apart inside my mind It was a murder of a different kind

Great poem! I really like it, with all its haunting and imagery filled lines. |
