Cathartic Skies

Time,
The purging fire of yesteryear burns through past experience
Leaving trails of ash.
And mouths hungry with self harm cram the embers till tongues
blackened and coated, are stilled, left to the bitter after taste, refusing
To drink from the purest water of streams that flow.
Worry leads its followers in a methodical rekindling of stirring amongst
The embers, trying to reignite the flames just enough to smell flesh
Burning with the memories they stir.
True friends call on the breeze to gently sweep ashes away into cathartic Skies.
And sometimes we stand on pinnacles of survival, markers to declare we
Are still here, and laugh at all that fed the flames, all the madness that Made our days.
And maybe wisdom leads us away from these pyres.
And maybe experience teaches us not to revisit the flames.
And maybe strength burns inwardly such that the flames
captivate those who see the fire but now,
From within our eyes.
