Vigil

Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Sitting quietly in my silent vigil
Watching your chest rise and fall
Fending off the thoughts of dismal
Keep breaking through my wall

You continue on as we still wait
Life's tenuous hold you grasp tight
Can't understand this twist of fate
Letting go just doesn't feel right

A life filled with many stops, starts
You walked your path of low and high
You melded with each of our hearts
How can it be your time to die

Prayers called out, please no, my friend
Tears fall with each second as they pass
Knowing that this race has met its end
He'll bring you home, rest at long last

I'll miss you so much, my heart can't bear
Our talks, shared laughter, tears and woe
I cringe at the thought you won't be there
I can't, don't make me, ever let you go

Silence takes over the room as you fade
Holding your hand, I feel your essence
Go home, sweet child, don't feel afraid
Light Heaven's stars with your brilliance

Knowing you'll watch from clouds above
Listening as I continue to talk day to day
Feel in my heart all that you gave in love
I'll join you when my path leads that way

A very lovely tribute you have penned. My best friend died suddenly last January. I am sorry for your loss but I do know they don't want us to be sad and want us to remember the good.

He'll bring you home, rest at long last . Perhaps home to be an angel?

Take care,

Tim
