Foreign Porridge!

Contributed by northernlights on Thursday, 25th October 2012 @ 02:51:02 PM in AEST
Topic: Holiday Poetry

There comes a time when enough is enough!
And fools have ruled for too long!
When the voice of reason has ceased to be heard,
And no one sees right from wrong!

The working masses are struggling to afford,
The basics of every day life.
Holidays are right down the bottom of the list,
At the top of the list is strife!

Media bring news of life in the prisons,
The Crims are at their ease,
With Voice of Human Rights they smile
Our law is there to please.

And so in recognition of my little influence,
My mind begins to plot!
And I elevate myself to the role of Governor,
To view this rotten lot.

Tis time to turn the tables on liberal thinking,
And instigate my new regime.
Tis time to talk still of exciting adventures,
Who am I to stop the dream?

So I get out my brochure of exotic destinations,
And flick through the range of places,
Now which of these wonderful five star hotels?
Will put smiles on their dear little faces.

And then I must say I am most utterly proud,
Youll not find anywhere finer.
Than the shared accomodation, with flight included,
In the best cells of Beautiful China

I know that maybe heat, is not to everyones taste,
I can tell by the general Hysteria!
So to calm the critics, who may deem me too harsh!
This year I have chosen Syberia!

While I can certainly understand the desire of getting away from it all, please don't get eaten by any tigers. wink

As for the cons - how about 2 weeks for 2 with
2 pounds spending money in the Helman province ....... and let them eat cake!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
