I take a pause in the silent playground
And watch the Yew,
Standing tall and surly,
Shrug off the shower of crimson
Rusted leaves floating
From the sleepy Sycamore by his side
Whilst the wind orchestrates
A tapestry of Autumn colours
On the barren ground
Colliding with the misty grey sky.
One thirty, I am startled by the chime
Of the school bell
Fluorescent gardener passing
With a smokers cough
And the roar of jet engines
As the breeze plucks a golden leaf
From my collar.

Autumn just commands you to stop and observe and so much to observe and feel.....rusty leaves amazing colours.I love the contrast with the continuing of every day life.Descriptive, and precise, a snapshot and therefore good poetry. |
