I see you there, straddling your backwards chair, the fragrant sense of supremacy easing from you. I am thin, behind the jars of air, put into my place. Into the sun painted urn that everyone eyes, but I wait to ask you, warm to ask you were you the script or the break through? I brought you to the light, didnt worry very much that others saw you as well, didnt worry much about it at all. And you sent me, and I sent you, but we always came back to our sanctified ground, not a friend to be found. I needed you to keep the thorns where they belonged and to see the sails at their fullest- still
I watch you now, moving among the people, contented, complicit, an x-ray of my former bones, and cannot tell if you were ever convinced- Convinced that the longer road wasnt worth the sorer legs. I see you there, the beam of a stare, and want to know- On this day of days, as I steal away, born to a common mans death were you merely a script, a waste of my breath?
