A heart awoken from slumber as the forces of all
The thoughts of the world rise to the surface,
Until sensitive eyes glance upon a flame and a soul
In readiness opens the floodgates bringing supplication
To the world.
Recognising the faults of humanity, the weaknesses, and
Each tear turns into streams and wisdom sits by the
Eternal river adding personal tears while tranquillity brings
Peace, and thoughts meander to ashes of human mistakes.
And a small child looks into the face of wisdom and asks
What will grow from the ashes?
And wisdom mixes the ashes with the fertile soil of hope
And asks the small child to plant their own seed for
The future.
Then weeps tears of relief at the recognition of purity
In innocence illuminated, untainted.
And hand in hand they watch
From small shoots comes saplings and with patience
Firmly rooted trees appear offering shade, protecting,
And the river flowed gently
And the child grew strong.

Hi Anna,
Hope .... just what we need more of in today's
international climate, and it will always be in
the hands of our children. This is once again
a fine piece of verse from yourself, filled with
truth, optimism, and ponderables - and though
I'm the eternal sceptic, let it not demean your
poem in any way when I say ......... History
has a habit of repeating itself.
And I'd be the first to celebrate if this proved
to be a fallacy.

so very wonderfully put. hope springs eternal in a child's view. the magic of hope, romantic notion, lived into, preciously appreciated, a small child's lovely voice.
Thank you! |

This sort of reminded me of the passage in the bible: Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
I am not sure exactly why. Perhaps it was way the metaphor was used and the child growing to learn...learn to be right with life in the eyes of God.
I am kinda sorta in the same line of thinking with Tommy, but I refer to myself more as a realist instead of a pessimist. Perhaps a pessimist is real in thinking but I always try to see all sides so there is always that glimmer of hope.
You have definitely provoked thought, for that I am sure. |
