I toss and turn in the midnight air, I feel the dread, I smell the sweat, Yet nothing is there. I watch the clouds become the moon, As the light fades, the dark grows, And the pied piper plays his tune. I feel the earth vibrate and shake, The soil it disturbs, the insects they crawl, and the malevolent awake,
I hear the screams of the trees, the rustling of leaves, the wails of the rivers, of the lakes and of the seas, I hear the roaring of the wind, the howls of it's sins, The voices of millions, they cry "We are not ready to die!"
I rise from my slumber, to ponder, to wonder, Do the visions really lie? Do the millions really die? While I sleep in peace, to ponder, to wonder, Where is it I go? What is it the visions show and so,
I toss and turn in the midnight air, I grip the insanity, I hold the humanity, Yet nothing is there, I watch as the stars, they flicker, They expand, abound quicker, It's dust of the atom, To infect, to madden, and the pied piper plays his anthem, and we all march to pay our ransom.
