Taste the Bitterness

The taste of you lies bitter on my tongue, as acidic as the hate expelled in every breath conceived within the depths of these love-stained lungs. Now, my pride calls for this failed union's death. How was our faithfulness so easily replaced by lust? Never have I asked for more, or given any less than what was owed: though my price was always greater . . . For that, I won the prize of harsh reality's caress.
