Solace in the darkness, too scared to move or fight,
wrapped within the swirling black, pure chaos hinders sight,
listen to the raven, come hide within his voice,
a sound to hark the frozen fear, a pause to make a choice,
release of breath... panic comes, an hour or just seconds,
too late he caws... you overstep, you cannot hide... he beckons,
the seventh hour strikes its toll, in dark you cannot hide,
break your fear upon the rocks, escape your own demise.

The Raven knows as darkness will always come, death will await us all.

You know.... What I like about this, is that the raven seems like a metaphor, in that he could represent death, or the interpreted imminence of death.
"Too late he caws... you overstep,"
Almost like in a way, to say that he's trumpeting death, and that you've made a poor decision in terms of timing or risk.
"Release of breath... panic comes,"
The thought of when you are afraid, you could say you no longer have manual control of your breathing... the control has been released... after which you panic, and more so spectate what is occurring, rather than analyze and react.
"Break your fear upon the rocks,'
This however, makes me think of suicide. By crashing yourself from a jump up high, you end your life and the fear of death.
"Escape your own demise."
Perhaps you escape the fear, which would've lead to your undoing in the future.
Perhaps your death from the suicide would free you from the prolonged dying that is life.
Perhaps life itself is fear, since only by being alive can you be greeted with, and be agonized by your fear.
Cool thoughts. Cool poem. :) |
