Taken deep into the heart of this forest, The twigs snap beneath our feet, The cold wet dew burdens the ground, the air hangs limp and weak.
The wind like her breathing, Comes in occasional gusts, I know the time has come, To finish what nature's begun.
I close my fingers around the handle, As I push her to her knees, Like the way I've done many times before, This time it's for the ultimate release.
I fumble in my pocket, And pull the gun out swift and quick, One click, one bang, is all it takes, Blood now trickles upon the leaves.
Sweat saturates my clothing, My heartbeat is the only sound I can hear, I lift up her lifeless form, As the birds settle back in their trees.
