have you ever had a phase
or is it only me
to where you try so hard
to be what you cannot be
it is'nt in your life
on any given day
but yet you are confused
with the role that you will play
to simply be yourself
just was'nt in the cards
you're losing your ability
as you simply try to hard
your feelings & your pride
are lying on a shelf
because someone has convinced you
you cannot be yourself
so put away the mask
of being what your not
lose the false images
& hold on to what you've got

| Excellent poem! I see you did a rhyming flow with the second and forth stanza, and the beat goes with the poem. most of all, the message is great. when I was a teenager, I never pretended to be somebody else. today, more teenagers are not being themselfs more than my generation. if this poem can change one mindset, then you have achieved a big goal. |
