And then there is home

Contributed by shelby on Saturday, 6th July 2013 @ 01:02:47 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

I remember years ago,
wow, boring
wish there was somewhere better to go.
This place is to quiet,
dull I would say
I must just take off, adventures, get away
escape to somewhere better
more excitement and such.

And I did, I did......

Now,
oh how I long for the peacefilled calm of the night
only sounds, the wind in the tree's
and windchimes soft and light.
The frogs singing out near the pond
once inawhile maybe the bark of a dog.

The summer time snow flurry
produced by the Cotton Woods
all lined like old soldiers along the Snake River
and those grand old tree's
were big when I was small
old dear Cotton Woods, blowing puff balls around.

The smell of the willows and wild roses
and my sheets swaying in summer breeze on the line.
At night climbing in to them
they so soft and so sweet
smelling like outdoor perfume
just perfect for me.

Driving the four wheel drive
on the little dirt roads
off to the river and my favorite fishing hole
or a bit further still
and I was deep in the woods
picking Indian paint brush
and huckleberries,
oh right now I wish I could!

The smell of alfalfa blossoms
drifting from the big field across from the house
and waving at my old friend Mac
as he drove by on his tractor, putt putt putt....
helping him heard the cattle down our country road
he now long passed, heard his place has now been sold.

And then there is home.......

Mmmmm....very very nice, Michelle.

On an off note this reminded me of Tweety Bird:

And I did, I did I did see a Putty Cat :p

Amen, Sister.

Such vivid imagery, deep connection. My heart was aching as I read this. Sentimental, yes, but recollections like this are real, and some of the best aspects of us.

same page alright - maybe we are getting to a certain age, hmmm?

S.

Another lovely write, full of strong images that waft through the mind like a breeze on a summer day.
I've been to many places in the world and I find them all captivating in some way, but in the words of the Wizard of OZ.......
"There's no place like home"

Steve
