there is an ending to all beginnings
but this is only the middle
and you know how i feel about this
there is not another
person whose shoulder
i could lean my head to shed my tears
not another person
who ears could listen
to my fears.
but you
so different in many ways
that we're the same
and this is only the beginning of our end
of course you'll say that "we should be friends"
if this makes no sense then you weren't listening
im a shadow to your body
the silence in between the songs
a record that never ends
because it is skipping.

not wishing to be dramatic, but this is definitely one of your best poems. i like the juxtaposition and the simple but powerful phrase 'if this makes no sense then you weren't listening'
the final stanza is excellent - the image created is effective and easy for anyone to relate to. again, i hope whoever this is for gets to read it. keep writing, Kate x |
