HOW DARE I

HOW DARE I

I LOOK AT PARTS OF THE WORLD
SOME STARVING AND LIVING IN FEAR
AND I ASK MYSELF
WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT
TO SHED SELFISH TEARS?

YES IM DOWN ON MY LUCK
AND SOMEWHAT DEPRESSED
BUT GOD GRANTS ME
YET ANOTHER DAY TO DRAW BREATH

I DONT LIVE WITH WAR
WAKING UP TO BOMBS
OR WITH UNIFORMED MEN
INVADING MY HOME
I LIVE IN PEACE AND SAFETY
WITH FREEDOM TO ROAM

SO WHY CANT I SHAKE
THIS FEELING INSIDE
OF WANTING TO SHUT DOWN
TO CLOSE UP AND HIDE

SUNSHINE TEASES MY FACE
TO WAKE ME
YET THIS OVERWHELMING
SENSE OF DOOM
THREATENS TO BREAK ME

MY MEMORY IS HAUNTED
BY A VIBRANT GIRL IN HER YOUTH
NOW AGING AND TAUNTED
BY REGRESSION AND BLUES

COME ON MY SPIRIT URGES
FROM DEEP WITHIN
SHAKE OFF THE SORROW
START LIVING AGAIN

I TRY TO PULL MYSELF UP
BUT ITS HOPELESS IT SEEMS
MEMORIES OF VOICES
DARING ME TO DREAM

I KNOW ILL BE OK
IM STRONG WITH AN
UNBREAKABLE PRIDE
CHANGES THAT I MUST GO THROUGH
TAKING PLACE INSIDE

BUT ISNT IT FUNNY
HOW LIFE SUCKS YOU DOWN
AND WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT
YOURE ALONG FOR THE RIDE.

Don't let your sadness own you!
Your happiness will return, in time you will know true love again.
I liked the poem Shabby, You are very good at finding the right words to ryme with.

Take care and enjoy life.
From a good friend Kindredblood

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
