And We are Left to Gaze

Contributed by northernlights on Wednesday, 2nd October 2013 @ 04:17:02 PM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

What happens to those

For whom this world has decided that they should leave before

Their time?

Those whos spirits are broken in the knowledge there Is no way home.

What happens to the spark and glint of fire as the windows to the soul

Can only look down.

What happens when life is squeezed until will has no longer the strength to fight and there is no more reason to live.

Then we look back.

Back to pictures of different times, to recognition of the person in their fullness, their vitality to memories of smiles and

laughter, of mischief and feistiness.

Anguish and sorrow in bowls of regret are stirred in memories and tears of recognition of human failure to guide in

peace the souls that are readying to journey home.

And we are left to gaze at the stars that twinkled as brightly as the eyes that we looked on in privilege, and we are left

with the warmth of a life that we were allowed to share, and look and look we do, and complete ourselves in their memory.

I really, really, really like this poem!

I have my own thoughts on the answers to that very first line but I suppose I shall just keep them to myself at this time.

But then you move on to the memories, the reminiscing, the feelings, the missing, etc etc and YES!!!! I love looking at the pics and remembering.

Thank you.

P.S. Another thought that crossed my mind was this is the type of poem that should be hanging up in a room with the photos of family and friends that have passed away. Perhaps an artwork with the words flowing through or sewing the words onto some type of cloth or similar.
