just a dad

Contributed by thehotshotpoet on Thursday, 5th December 2013 @ 04:44:38 PM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

exercising my beliefs
and the dreams I once had
trying to be responcible
threw being just a dad

everybody gives suggestions
but nobody seems to see
noone can ever be this dad
unless you can be me

I hear what families go threw
there ups & downs in life
but everything they throw at me
somebody has a wife

well there is no wife here
which shows I'm not like you
I must be at my best
just doing what I do

no doubt this life confuses me
& most would see it bad
but I write this poem in confidence
no doubt I'm just a daD

Never doubt yourself as a dad and never stray from the course you are setting for you and your child. I have custody of my grandson and both his parents are absent from his life. Still I try to instill in him the love I have for him - that he is the reason for the sun. He is the most amazing kid - show the love and devotion that you have as a father. Know that the true believers of a child's gift and love are behind you. The rest, well.....

a son is a great thing to have, forget the old man.
Life, what it were, a son is a great crystal ball.
A dad, a friend, a husband or not.
Can't control this or that, can a dad or anyone much?
I like your poem, I read it and say me too.
Just a dad, to another one, is what it says.
Giving thanks for his only son!
Well done!

Cheers!

Peace!

Sorry about what your going through but you sound like your getting through it with a nice mindset. You are focused on being a father and your right, no one else can give you advice if they never went through something similar. They can try but it always ends up being not that great advice. I love your poems because you are so honest with them. You put all your emotions out into your words. This poem is just another great work of yours. Best wishes♥

You said it exactly as it is…no one can be you.
I raised 2 kids alone: they taught me a lot about myself.

You will be very good at this, from what you write. You have started a story here…
I hope you tell us more…and one day finish it.
Good luck, dad!
