A Single Star

Contributed by dvtpdw on Thursday, 5th December 2013 @ 07:23:50 PM in AEST
Topic: Holiday Poetry

Standing beneath the cold dark night
Enthralled by a single star's light
Wondering how long it's been above
Was it sent to watch us with love?

Christmas season is upon us again
Busy finding gifts for family or friend
Decorating as we plan the day's menu
Forgetting the meaning in what we do

Happy Holidays has become the call
Said cheerily as we rush by one and all
Human kindness falls by the wayside
We're much to busy with this Xmas ride

As I stand here and take a pause
Realize the season's more than Claus
I hear the music of the singing bells
Feel love in the glorious story it tells

On a cold winter night in a time past
A single star shone in a golden blast
To lead man to the truth of His birth
He'll bring love and hope to our earth

Christmas Day is meant to share
With each other His Heavenly fare
Merry Christmas is what I chose to say
As I wish you love on this Christmas day

Very well stated (as always)! Love the sentiment and you are right.

Have a very merry Christmas.

Kinda of off topic: I have been wondering what atheists are celebrating at Christmas photo cid_00a401c6a18258929660d9cfed46S00.gif
