every now and then, i rise from the ashes
fixed like a phoenix, pride in my eye lashes
ive been walking with a new step, maybe call it a hop
ive got a few hurdles but unlikely to flop
this is my re-emergence, my escape from the uncertain
this is the next version of life, the bugs skirtin
i laughed today with giddiness and felt like a five-year-old
i smiled today wide enough to slide in a melon whole
this isnt because of someone else, these are lessons learned
no one will ever give you contentment, only the few will earn
im twenty-eight today, ive been fighting fifteen years
im glad to say ive found a place to wipe away the tears
and now i will begin the journey, some just call it life
but free of fear and no weight down, things they seem so nice
