Beyond thought and past reason, pinch me now for I must be dreaming, Moon-lite night, gentle breeze, silent lake and soft candlelight, Two souls become one, hours past until morning sun, Flesh upon flesh, putting every emotion to the test,
Two bodies covered in sweat, the silk sheets damp and wet, A bottle of Dom Perignon still rest upon ice, but it doesn't compare to the look in your eyes, The softest kiss leads to heavenly bliss, A surge of passion drives our senses to the brink of madness,
Animalistic instincts bring forth just cause, The irresistible need for two to be one can not be ignored, An emotional volcano too strong to hold back, erupts into orgasmic pleasure that won't retract, An ocean of waves crash upon the shore, love making that rocks us to the core,
We hold on tight for the ride of our life, Freezing that moment in time, memories that will last a lifetime, Unable to forget the feeling of your body and mine, As the sun rises, we kiss again and say goodbye
Forever Faithful The Phantom

Great imagery, Matt...
Somehow it reminded me of some of my own poems....
Keep them coming....

"Animalistic instincts". I like the subject, and wish you could expound more on the biological aspect and how it ties into the act of love making. (I'm prudish by nature....a religious guilt I can't shake, though not a practising Christian per Se'). I do appreciate the emotional investment of this piece. Phantom, if I may offer a thought of mine (and it is just a thought, not a criticism); every word in a poem is of value, and I think your instincts to write are spot on, however, I would humbly suggest that you examine the NEED of every word..how it fits, is it relevant? Is it required for the idea to be conveyed? You have the music of poetry in your heart, and I thank you for that. An application of critical analysis of your own work BY YOU, (not some dumb-ass like me) will go a long way in your journey of poetry. thanks again for the read. I very much liked it. |
