Ending It (The Hardest Breakup)

I'm sorry...

I can't do this anymore

I have to end it before it's too late

Before my life becomes one irreversible mistake

I'm sorry to do it like this

Putting everything out in the open

Tried to tell you the truth but it got stuck in my throat

Chokin'

You were there for me when everyone else wasn't

Ignored by my family

Even my distant cousin

When I lost it all

You were the only one who stayed

There for me every morning

Like a glass of Minute Maid

You were my strength when all I knew was fear

Changed my outlook on life

As everything became clear:

All I Needed I was You

So I did whatever I could to keep you with me

Took advantage of those who said they missed me

Reached into their pockets and stole what wasn't mine

Did unspeakable things

And crossed every line...

For You!

The things I did

I can never take back

Looking in-vein on my arm

Finding nothing but tracks

You were my "Baltimore Love Thing"

I gave you all I had

Down to my last 50

Begging you to stay

Hoping this feeling would remain with me

But you didn't

And I was left with the ruins of my former life

A balled up, forgotten picture of my two kids standing with my wife

They left me because of the man I had become

And after being addicted to you, I can finally say:

We're Done!

Very sad :( And it happens so much in today's society.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
