The way it is
Never owning new products Make do and mend, hand me downs, fixer upper That's just the way it is
Bargain buys and buy one get one frees Charity shop finds, a must Family bailout, inevitable In my world that's the way it is
Scrimp and scrape by Survive on next to nothing We all try, we all try so hard But it's getting worse And they say that's just the way it is

Know what you're talking about! We did the same growing up, and nothing was thrown away! But we called it re-using, and it was an art form as well as a lifestyle.
Souls and spirits can be recycled as well…refashioned from sweet left overs, empowered to continue on..
thank you for reminding me to be proud of my notorious second hand shopping, make-do, re-use habits. They carry many people through and keep a lot of kids in school clothes!

I can relate but you are absolutely right, it's just the way life is. But we are still grateful and there's beauty in that. :) thank you for posting. |
