Let it go..

Topic: Lifepoems

There is nothing to be done for monsters, insanity, greed, rape, incest, molestation, torture, hatred, war, killing, suicide, murder

All we have the power to do is infect our surroundings with seeds
justice, compassion, truth, gentleness, humor, patience, trust, and time.
No child was born aspiring to become a killer.
No baby ever wished to rape, murder or steal.
What brings the adult to that brink is not in our power to change.
All we can do is mourn and carry away the dead.

We are not the answer; because we are not the reason.
Without evil, would we notice goodness?
If we didnt die, would life be so precious?
There is balance in all things.

Light and dark
strength and weakness
bitter and sweet
brief and eternal
forward, backward
together, alone

these are not things of our making.
Though we grieve, mourn, and rage we do not have the power to erase what offends humanity.

Take a step then to accept what is, in all its horror. Until we embrace it, we are immobilized in it's grip.
Step forward and console those who have lost,
hold the injured in your emotional arms,
sing a lullabye to the dying.
encourage the fearful,
steady the doubtful,
spread your gifts.. teach others what little you know..
Be kind..you may not have all the facts.

Do what you can, and know that what you can is very very limited. You are a ripple; not the ocean.
Let go of the rest, and trust with all your heart that someone will do what you cannot., or could not.
Forgive yourself for those you have failed.

Release your anger, defiance, judgement and denial - you cannot help while you are at war.
do a small kindness each day.
You cannot stop evil. You can only help others cope with grace.
Sometimes all you can do is help them cry.
Take your rest, be patient, and you will endure to do more than those who do not.

And when you are faced with the unthinkable..count yourself fortunate to be the helper, instead of the helped. the crutch instead of the cripple, the guide, instead of the lost; and know that these chances come to you because you have a purpose in being here. The reason for your existence is staring you in the face. Whether you embrace it, or turn away is not the sum of who you are. It is only how you are in one moment.

And while you are in need, note what you would do for others if only you could. Write it down!
When life has given you just enough to help someone, you will know. Until then, put your house in order. Meet your own needs. Prepare your gift. It will be needed.

Be patient with yourself. Cry salty tears. and begin again. The world will always have wrong; and we will always have the ability to create balance.

Sure there is. Have you seen the movie Escape From New York ? Well, we send them all to a place like that, ceptin the walls are higher, thicker, and even more non escapable. (Just call me Snake). wink photo cid_20464F9289AB441CB8AAF7967356146.gif They can live with each other.

Very positive and optimistic thoughts and words. Great advice. Some of us, however, may have days where we will still think of the in justice and pain caused by others because the empathy is a potent value in us.

Thank you for posting.

Hmm. Well, kudos to you, as a writer you provoked a thought process and a response. I have re-read this a couple of times; there is much to chew on. I agree that no matter what, evil and injustice will always exist. I vehemently disagree that anyone should approach life with a "you can't change a damn thing" type attitude though. If everyone was aware of just how mighty their tiny 'ripple' in the ocean could become, we would see great change in our world. It sadly makes me think of those people who choose not to vote because "it won't make a difference anyway" or "they're all corrupt". It is a crippling attitude that no one will benefit from.

Thanks for posting, you definitely got me thinking.

Nice philosophy. Sounds Christian.
