Child of Sorrow

Contributed by northernlights on Wednesday, 4th June 2014 @ 09:39:46 AM in AEST
Topic: anguished

Sorrow sits at the foot of the cross and weeps.

The life blood of innocence conceived of the complexity

Of youth ebbs and flows, salty pools mix terror and fear

With visions of sinfulness, rejected of humanity and judged

By God,she is alone to carry the burden, her finger traces

The word guilt onto an unlined forehead, and she is medically

Cleaned, religiously judged, and in the love she has for her

Child that lived, a dichotomy of the light of a full heart and the

Darkness of loss when in the eyes of life she was yet a child.

Sorrow sits at the foot of the cross and weeps..........

Pain is conveyed so strongly in this poem, in a beautiful but tragic way.

This is like a painting hanging on the wall and you describing it!

I am in awe, therefore it is awesome! I know quite often we as readers will use the word imagery when commenting but really, this is soooo visual and full of emotion. I cannot help but be impressed. You have that power.

I could see her, I could empathize with her.

I like your thought processes...we swim in similar waters. Well done, and I will look for more from you.

Best,

Invierno

Hi Anna,

We like to think that we have moved on from
the times when judgement and damnation
were the pronouncements put upon those who
had transgressed against the ''virtues of
decency'' - pulpit pontification, I think it was
called. Not so. They're still out there.

Innocence itself is a virtue that we should
embrace and protect, whatever it's form.

A somewhat sad but thoughtful piece.
