Soft rose petals in soft summer colours
Yellow for whimsical southern dreams
Pink for yearning teenage romance
White for weddings and brilliant hope
Lovely summer days under protective willow trees
Firelight when the warm night closes in
Droplets of water on the morning roses
White petals for lover's complete trust
Pink petals on sunkissed breasts
Sandy hair and salty skin
Love soft as summer's breathe
Gentle as summer's kisses
Soft rose petals softly falling to the ground
Cold autumn rain slowly tearing life away
Pink petals of sincere love, dropped into the mud
Shrivelling on the wet ground
Summer dies with cold north skies
Back to responsibility
Tides dragging me back to earth
Further away from yellow roses
Yellow petals fading under old gray morn
Here comes the snow
Summer is so short-lived
Lakeside love withered with the roses
Just stalks and thorns
Yellow and pink and white carpets
Sinking into the tired earth
Tears on white petals
All alone now, with winter preying now
No more cloudless days
No more romance under cerulean skies
My fathomless hope has been measured
Love's come up short for us
