Concrete Pillow

Contributed by Cynthia on Sunday, 6th July 2014 @ 04:03:59 PM in AEST
Topic: toughstuff

It's that time of year again
people are cold and hungry,
the less fortunate are looking for places
to get out of the cold, somewhere warm to be.

They freeze in frigid temperatures
their stomachs lie empty and bare,
all they need is some warmth and food
looking for eyes, that will care.

Snow is coming and has fallen
in some places of the world,
but it seems like the forgotten ones
out of our hearts, they've been hurled.

In every city and town across the world
starvation and sickness occurs daily,
sleeping on a concrete pillow
could easily happen to you and me.

your flowing words speak truth, thank you for this dose
of reality, which we all need- to be more grateful and kindly
compassionate, to help when we are able,

hugs n' love nessa

This piece of writing is eye opening, vivid, rich with the reality you've described. The hard cold fact is that there are many people going through this struggle and you've managed to pen to paper, set a visual taking us on a journey...this is sad, however true. But, I say to you bravo, great write...thanks for sharing 😊
