bluest blue greenest green

Contributed by ladyfawn on Tuesday, 20th May 2003 @ 11:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: didactic

once upon a time there was a little girl,

she spent unaccountable hours alone

looking up into the skies, one day

she saw the most beautiful blue ever,

this was a very nice happy blue

it made her feel all warm inside.

then her gaze went to the grass which

today was the most fascinating green,

and it was a day she thought to herself

would never be forgotton, it was so pretty.

she would see the blue and the green,

she loved these colours very muchly,

but; the blue wasn't always blue,

and the green wasn't always green,

sometimes the blues of the skies changed,

sometimes they were bright and brilliant,

sometimes dark and threatening, almost black,

often the greens had different hues, too,

sometimes the green was deep and very green

and new green was so fresh it made her smile,

so she knew that blue wasn't forever blue

and green wasn't infinitly green, they varied.

then, one day the little girl was sent to school,

and there she learned all about her lovely colours,

these colours she loved more than anything in her life,

she was told blue was always blue,

and green was always green,

but that wasn't true she thought.

after many years of blue being blue

and green being green, it didn't matter

anymore.

no longer was her life quite as happy.

she laughed less often, her heart smiled not as much,

something was missing but what it was she did not know,

she couldn't remember what used to make her so giddy and

pleased with her life, but she knew one thing was true, blue

was always blue and green was always green.

many many many many many years later,

the little girl now had grown all up and had her

children's children's children all around her, one of them

pointed at the sky and asked her what colour is that?

inside her heart melted because she loved this child so.

another child right that very minute, asked her why her

eyes were leaking and she started to laugh, she laughed a big laugh,

then she told the children all about all she knew about the bluest blue

and greenest green she'd ever seen on a long begone special day that

she had remembered she had forgotton to remember.

right in her heart she was happy warm again,

with bluest blue and greenest green,

and all the colours in between.

Blue eyes, green eyes, some in between
Missed to discover
When a smile can be seen.

Love your work again
Am once again,
Feeling sane.

This is lovely.. One I would post in the room of a school-age child, or perhaps on the door facing out. It would help ME to remember the world as seen through the eyes of children. Very motivating. Thank you!

This took me back many years to when I was a barefoot country boy. One of my most cherished memories is sitting in a grassy spot high on a hill where I went often to do nothing. I will never forget the blue sky and the various shades of green as I looked out over the valley below and beyond. I cannot remember a more peaceful feeling. Thank you for this wonderful peice.
