oops

like a horrible little machine
i am compulsed
to scratch these words.
the page complains
under the burden
of my pencil.
my hand persists
despite my better judgement,
and more words
dance across my page.
the empty lines
look up at me
defiantly,
as if they could
somehow
subvert their fate!
but i will smudge
my black across them.
i will surely spread
my black disease...
