I need to move on Before it's begun While I'm still standing Before my feet are cut down While my heart still cries Before my soul dies
I should leave you where you stand Not a word Slip away Like a dream in the night Never to be see from, Or felt from again
Disconnect my number Move my things Delete my face Erase All that we shared What we tasted Tainted By life's pretenses
Too much confusion Your past My beliefs Where does that leave Two hearts in need Lovers destined to bleed Beautiful eyes Never to see What she is meant to be
I would rather die Then see you this way Crying in the corner of the bed I would rather you have him instead Think of me as dead Without you I am without breathe Closer to death
Let me sink Deeper into my grave You can not save A man who wishes to disappear From the earth From his birth This hurts This truth Should never be cast upon you

An eloquent recipe for extricating ourselves without doing harm. A difficult task requiring (as you point out) pretense "Think of me a s dead", denial "Your past My beliefs", and sacrifice "I would rather you have him instead". Always an awkward proposition, but penned with delicacy and served with the grace of a gentleman. A tip of my hat to you.
