Breathe Again

Contributed by steven_fenton123 on Monday, 18th August 2014 @ 04:53:26 PM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

Don't ever close your eyes,
Don't turn your back on life.
And please don't shed a tear,
unless it's from your heart.

Don't ever lean on the falling,
they are only running away.
Put your faith in the ones,
the ones who are by your side now.

I cried a river down to my crooked smile,
and hoped it would take me to the sea,
and the moon would pull the tide out,
and I would never swim for shore.

But I found an ally in my shadow,
and a reason in the silence.
I found an answer in my heart,
to the questions from my brain.
I had to breathe again, I had to live again.

Wonderful! You've done a masterful job on mood evocation. I like that you didn't take the 'easy out' on rhyme scheme when you could have and the poem would not have suffered. As it is, it climbs above the others.

Best,

Invierno

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
