Out of Reach

Contributed by puppy_dog_eyes on Friday, 29th August 2014 @ 05:34:25 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

If today closes the door of possibility
Every tomorrow will bleed from the wound of regret
Doubt stings like heavy, salted tears
The dream calls but the will of sense prevails

Are you victim of destiny, or master of?
Concocting false contentment to bolster weakened will
Spending life in the harbour, risking gentle swell
Not striking into ocean, braving turbulent seas

Prisoner of ideals that squeeze out strength and vigour
Content with table scraps where the feast would have been
Living is a colour in it's many shades of grey
Fear the looming shadow on every sunlit morn

See not for yourself and you will always be blind
Look through your own eyes and night becomes day
Tethered thoughts will hold you back and tie you to safe
Release the bonds and claim the prize, before it's out of reach

We've come upon the proverbial "Y" in the road. Do we go left or do we go right? For every action there is a reaction...a timeline.

The poem definitely got me thinking and I'll avoid one of my TIMgents :) and leave it at that.

Great writing. Deep thoughts. Thank you, thank you for a very enjoyable read.

Tim

Your analogies bring the message home for us--you leave no stone unturned! My favorite line (there are so many!) "See not for yourself and you will always be blind"..
Thank you for opening doors; your words knock loudly and the sunshine awaits!

Wow Steve! Your poem spoke to me on so many levels. Fear has kept me back so many times in my life. I've been 'Content with table scraps where the feast would have been"
Great reading your work again..

Glad I ventured over to your page today...You nailed it, Steve. Well done! Fear is the number one inhibitor. Best line:

Concocting false contentment to bolster weakened will
