many years ago

Many Years Ago

Many years ago i was but a child, thoughtless, free
and completely wild.

The hills reached the moon, and mountains reached the stars,
I had no clue that life would bring so many scars.

Once upon a time I found a safe haven, a place to leave my burdens
and tears, to rid myself of all my fears.

But many years passed and I lost my way time and time again,
until this very day, for only when you stop and look back, do
you see the long trek back.

I've found the place where I left all my fear, this place to me
still so very dear, so to all of you here, listen close and gather
near, and ill try to make life a little more clear

Many years have gone, and many will come, some will be bad
and others may bring pain, even grief, but every feeling we have
is always brief, happiness will come, and so will peace, these too
shall pass like a falling autumn leaf.

Many years ago, there lived a child, and live she shall, happy and free.
always somewhere inside of me.

the end

Hi there Kelly

I'm Rus I joined after you left. Let me first say welcome back to a family of poets whom care for each other. Must say great write and yes life does take us down a meandering road sometimes a beautiful scenery it will show and other times it exposes the horrors of life but we survive it. As long as you learned from it you've done well. God bless

Greetings
Rus

Hear, hear!

I first contributed back in 2003. In 2005, I had a bad year & it took me a few years to pull myself out of it.

Welcome back & great write!
