Without

Topic: Lifepoems

To me, people they are like sheep
Green resonates in people's brains
And deprives them of sleep
But the doe-re-me
Ain't nothin' to a man
From the country

Life today seems to be so fast
Dueling and harping on the past
Do we realize a thousand pasts
Means no future

And so that's why

Expensive jeans
And mounds of green
I am with without
A high-rise in the city
Ain't to me so pretty
Cars, and jewels
As great as they may seem
These things I am without

She begged me for shiny new heels
Size six and a half
Say hey honey
Let's do the math
A barefoot you revs my engine
Than any hot catch
From here to high heaven

I wish once again
For the first time we could meet
And then two people
Could have a single heart beat

Expensive jeans
And mounds of green
I am without
A high rise in the city
To me, ain't so pretty
Cars, and jewels
As great as they may seem
These things I am without

It's so funny
Feel the irony
Want less and be rich
And you'll feel like a million bucks

A fool is soon separated from his money. ;) Good job conveying that message. Everything worth living for is a direct result of our actions, and no amount of money can come by that honestly.

I think there is a tendency these days to assume money is god. It drives people and sometimes they miss the true worth of life.
You've illustrated that so well here in your words.
Persue the real value of life, that's the message I'm taking from this.
Nice work

Steve

A lesson learned with age I think, the older I get the more I appreciate the things that come without a price tag. Excellent write.
