There she blows

The other day the news did say,
a storm a storm is on the way.
With lots of wind and biting cold
and roads and schools may all be closed.
Snow and freezing rain and sleet
will coat each and every interstate and street.

Well living here in the Pacific Northwest
we have alot of weather reports like this.
Though my aching back was saying it was so.
Batten down the hatches here comes the blow.

Blow it did, wind gusts slamming from the East,
getting bombed in the head by pine cones
being tossed from the lofty pine tree's.
Limbs and branches hitting the roof
peoples power going off poof,poof,poof.

Tree's crashing down like domino's
wind biting cold just freezing my toes.
Leshay and I decided for a walk to decline
we were getting pounded hard with everything
flying in the wind.

So Veterans Day I got my regular birthday storm.
Back in the day in Idaho, it was always a blizzard with feet of snow.
I did get my blizzard but it was pine cones and big limbs
my little area kept its power,so glad that we did
but nobody else did!

Then the snow came, big white flakes, then on top
it got tanked with freezing rain.
A little in the Metro sure messes up the world
so when a winter storm hits here
it becomes total hell unfurled.

Today the East wind is starting again
round number three of the winter polar freeze.
So Ill batten down the hatches
and put my thermal britches on.
Pray I keep my power
its just me and furkids
man is gone gone gone.(Hoping he isnt getting stormed on)

There she blows as I sit here watching
what is left of the golden leaves.
Flying past the big windows
keeping the birds in the air company.

dis is good
dis is big
dis is
disturbing
weather dis
is
And I like it a lot
wouldn't want to be in
it
na na na
but then na
perhaps I would

the way you describe it
looking out the window
thinking what ifs'
I was a bird
and all

this is something you witnessed
I hear about the weather all over
and it puts me in all these different
moods

Thank you for sharing!
Great writing
Peace!

Get me my woolies and a hot chocolate! Wow..you took me right back to upstate New York in the dead of winter! Brrr! "what is left of the golden leaves. flying past the big windows"..
I have lived in S. CA for over 40 years but your story lit the memories like a Roman candle!
So close to Christmas, thank you for this bittersweet winter senario!

I wasn't ready to see the winter beast yet either. Unfortunately, winter has made his unwelcome appearance in my part of the world too! Snowing and blowing, and cold. Good for you for being able to write something poetic about it.
Now, did I read you just had a birthday? Happiest birthday wishes to you Michelle.
