Footsteps in the sand

With every step in the sand
Comes another lie
A single voice in the whisper of the wind
Telling you to die
With every whisper comes another voice
Of impending doom
Whispers send chills down your spine
That make you run to your room
You shut the windows, you lock the doors
But even that isn't enough
The voices call out to you
Trying to call your bluff
You hide under the blanket
Like a little kid
The only difference is you don't have your mama
But you wish you did
She soothed out the voices
Once upon a time
When the voices were at their loudest
Sending chills up your spine
You drop to the floor
But not for long
The voices call out to you
Just like a song
You try hard to forget
What happened when you were four
The voices called out to so strong
You tried to settle the score
They said you weren't strong enough for what they had in store
They said they would leave forever if you did one thing
After you did though
They started calling out your name
They made you kill your mama
But you wouldn't comply
So, they took an ax to the back of your moms head
And that's what made her die
They told you that it was your fault
And that they were never going away ever
You cried and cried more than you ever did in your life
And that's when your life was severed
Walking on the beach once again
Leaving footsteps in the sand
You say your goodbyes to the world
Like it was your only friend
