Though the night brings the cold And the day of stories retold Youre a recurrent song in my head The melody soft and consuming At times it seems my undoing Others I bask in the sound Are you the piper of Hamelin? The weight in my stomach I believe bears truth The townspeople cried
Oh Madeline, Madeline The piper of Hamelin
The chill is back in the air Bringing a touch of your hair The scent intoxicates me Drunk on cracking dreams I wake, shaking in the night Withdrawal pours down my face But morning breaks The night is chased away By the warmth of the bed Where is the touch of skin?
Oh Madeline, Madeline What do you expect then?
Praying for attention To curb the growing apprehension I am just a flightless bird It is time for me to molt I no longer need these wings Ive grown legs to stand alone The winter is receding Moss shakes the snowflakes off And land upon the grass Escaping the suns rays
Oh Madeline, Madeline What can I expect then?
My heart flutters noisily You seem to care, at least supposedly I cant shake this constant ring At times almost silent But still shatters my sleep Other times, so heavy Its hard to exhale But Id like if I didnt Smell of poppies sometimes Another renewal of hope
Oh Madeline, Madeline Who do you love then?
