Melancholia, my friend,
let us dance again amongst the bygone shadows
Our deathly dance, let us breathe under the surface of life, sighs of torment
Never embracing, just below, living, heavy with recognition of being drawn to
The underbelly of existence, from death I climb, from life I plummet to depths
Unknown, to those who do not know this dance.
Pearls glisten from trapped oceans,a heart in suspension, a soul knowing it
Will always return.
A will, powerless, I float from humanity, the entrance to my world hidden by a
Mortal smile, practised in dismissing prying eyes.
In this my true but hidden world, you will not find me,for I am already with
Those who are no longer here, in whispers, rustling,a breath, a sigh, they that
Are part of your world but you are not yet in theirs.

Wow. I like this. For me it sounds like a person that living thru the motions, waiting for the time when death can claim them so they can be where they truly feel they belong. |

I don't get this one, Anna, but what I do get is a lot of sadness and part felt like it was talking about death. Death may very well be the beginning of a new experience.
I know it's listed under self struggling but there could be so much more depending on one's perspective.
For example, a soul knowing it will always return also made me think of death and then reincarnation. It's me, I'm sure. The older I get, the more I think of the end of this life. The soul being a part of us, but not necessarily this us, this me .
"For I am already with those who are no longer here"...again, the other world, death.
Shadow people, shiny people. Bits of us left all around. I fear the shadow people.
I never have to completely understand what I have read because I can still sit back, take a breath and say out loud, "WOW". This poem has that wow factor.
Thank you,
Tim |
