10 years.
10 long, excruciating years.
Dying inside every time
Your beautiful face surfaces
On my memory banks.

10 years apart,
1000 miles away,
Still love burns in my heart
Like an unfettered flame.

10 years of wondering,
Of anguish and pain.
Reprising the past,
Rehearsing pretty words
To clear my name.

10 years, oh how long it's been,
And here I see your face
And it's deja vu
All over again.

Old feelings flare up
Like sulfur on a match.
Pretty words die on my tongue,
By your beauty snatched.

10 years I've waited to say
" I wanted to marry you."
But my heart
Must I stay.

10 years, and we've both moved on.
10 years, my heart, however,
With you
Still belongs.

I know you will never see this, and I could never speak it. But maybe, just maybe, you know. 10 years changes a person, but t I may well spend eternity trying to convince myself that my love for you is only love from memories of who we were then. Until then, I will always hold you in my heart, xtreme_emotions, and remain prepared to offer it to you should you be acquiesced to accept.
