Anniversary night

Contributed by FireStarter on Wednesday, 14th January 2015 @ 06:54:09 PM in AEST
Topic: anguished

Sittin' here on this bed of roses waiting for his call
For after all we've been through this really says it all
He misses one date and then its two and on to three it goes
I really thought I meant something to him, but who really knows

I sit for minutes then its hours waiting for his call
I really can't believe I had the nerve to really fall
To fall for eyes, his mind, his charm
But he promised me forever, and with that he'll do no harm

As I wait for his call I sit back and think
That this is the last time he sends me to the brink
I write a note to my husband thats says, "come get me if you please,
Im going home to my moms. When you get tell me how much I mean."

I pack my bag slowly but surely getting the things I need
If only he had the decency to show and tell me how much I mean
I wouldn't have had to do this and act like I don't care
But we all know that sometimes life isn't very fair

I'm at moms sittin' still waiting for his call
For after all we've been through this really says it all
I turn on the tv to try to get some peace
Its the news, there's been an accident. What could this mean?

They found his car flipped upside down in a ditch it seems
I never knew how much this could hurt even in my wildest dreams
They found some roses and a card in the front seat
It said," Honey im sorry. Ill wanna tell you how much you mean."

Really, really sad. I didn't see that coming. Nicely done.

Sad story, but the optimist in me wants to think that just maybe, the letdown of thinking he didn't care might make that pain hit at worst, a little bit softer.
