Poetry is like my twin
She always has the right words suiting any situation
When I am down I can write all about my depression
I can safely hide behind words
She is my voice when I am voiceless
My speech when I am tongue-tied
My comfort on lonely days
She is the confident part of me
Fearless, brave and courageous
Somehow she can express all my feelings in ways i cannot
Poetry is my better half lol

I would posit (not to be a nit-picker, honest), that it is the better part of you that has the courage to write poetry.
I feel the same way about poetry. It helps me, calms, angers, confuses and clarifies.

I know what you mean.
I have always said poetry is like therapy that you can call upon any time you need it.
Best of all, it's free, though it could be considered habit forming!! (if that's a downside?)
