Gone
Travelling into the city
Finding change all around
The places I used to love
The buildings I worked in
Gone are the past playgrounds of my youth
Replaced by car parks and flats
Crushed are the dilapidated
Swapped for shiny and new
Only in photographs and memories
The places of my life lie
Stolen from this earth
Gone forever, gone for good
Soon this new will be old
And the cycle will continue
Out with the old and regenerate
All that was ends up gone

Nice one, can definitely identify with that.
Makes me think of many other affects of time and 'progress' such as gentrification and tax funded 'enrichment'. Bit also the end gives some ambivalence on hope and futility :p |
