Vet Bill Too High

Vet Bill Too High

A Lady went to see her Vet.
She brought her dog along.
She said, Can you please check him out?
I fear there's something wrong.

He seems to be quite sick she said,
He will not eat or drink.
Please check him over carefully,
And tell me what you think.

The Vet got out his stethoscope,
And listened to it's heart,
He said, I have some real bad news..
I'm not where where to start.

Let me break it to you gently,
Your little dog is dead.
The Lady said, I don't agree,
He's just asleep instead.

The Vet said, Madam, I am quite sure,
Your dog is stone cold dead.
Well can't you check him out some more?
Was all the Lady said.

The Vet said, Fine, if you insist,
I'll bring my Black Lab here,
Now if you watch him carefully,
The truth will be quite clear.

The Black Lab came into the room.
He sniffed and walked away.
The Vet asked, Are you satisfied?
He heard the Lady say,

How can you be so very sure?
You can not tell like that.
The Vet said, OK, one more test.
He brought a pussy cat.
The cat just sniffed and walked away.
The Vet said, Now you know,
I'm sorry it's not better news,
But now I have to go.

He then made out a bill for her,
Two hundred twenty five.
The lady said, Why is it so high,
When my dog's not alive?

The Vet said, Normally my bill,
Would not be quite so high,
But the Lab report and Cat Scan,
Explain the reason why.

Sorry, just an opinion, but this one fails. This is simply a rewrite of an old joke I've heard a few times over the years. You may have personally written this but I'd bet that it's not originally your idea.

Yes, its an old joke, but I had forgot the punchline anyway, and your rhyme scheme and word choices were enjoyable. So I say, steal any joke or idea you like, so long as you put your own spin on it and don't plaigarise. You did, and you didn't, respectively. well done, I enjoyed it!

i thoroughly enjoyed this poem, the end is very cute, tho
stanza 3- 4th line where where and stanzas 8
and 9 are stuck together without spacing:: after reading
your other poems i feel this one was rushed, perhaps
before posting read once slowly aloud to yourself? clever
and creative, as always:)

hugs n' love nessa

I have to agree with Nessa, read your poems to yourself once before submitting and you will catch any mistakes, usually. I also have heard the joke, but only the punchline mainly. I think you did a good job with your own spin of the joke. Now it's time to read your other poems as I think you're new here. Keep on writing.
