Stay and Hold Me Tonight

Contributed by the_unknown on Wednesday, 18th March 2015 @ 08:47:18 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

Would you mind staying and holding me tonight?
My nightmares are coming true
What once was soft and familiar
Has become rough and cold
And you told me I had a frigid heart
The whirlwind inside killed the warmth
Would you believe me if I told you I burned my own heart when I was alone?
I was drowning in an ocean of
Nothing mattered anymore
Except the crystal on the pocket watch
That ticked longer the more I wound

Can we light a fire and lay on pillows on the ground?
The stories have become old, yet that's all that keep their grip
Stale bread on the kitchen table
Much like the look in our eyes
Is this how a relationship dies?
A fresh wound on an old scar
I wonder if you care so much
Your tears would fill my lungs

Will you hold me until I fall asleep tonight?
I wonder to myself if this was ever love
Like the trees love the soil
Like the soil drinks the water
I'm parched
A desert on fire
Liquid freedom is coming for me
And I will just be smoke
Did you know this was our fate?
My words are an abandoned shack
Your words come laced with thorns

Will you be here when I wake?
Of course you will
You wear cement shoes
You never get far
Take them off and run
You find your excuses
Will I be here when I wake?
I hope it's me and not the zombie
I hope that I am a caterpillar
Reinvented
With or without you
It doesn't matter anymore
