Ivory Towers Aren't All White

Contributed by invierno on Tuesday, 31st March 2015 @ 02:28:26 PM in AEST
Topic: Tributes

We shall assign the mind's of those evincing sufficient wit
and understanding to have made ruminations lasting longer
than their bodies, keen of mind, all long gone, in earth all landing.
We give them honor, pay homage, (here at least),
a marble hall; echoed, vast, edges ringed
with heads bronzed to last the ages
other minds have similar jumped,
falling shy to thinkers centuries past,
bronzed for being first to grasp,
rendering modern thinkers trumped.

Those intellects now turned to dust,
whose words we read with gasp and moments,
sweeping cobwebs clouding us
to revelations ancient, yet we trust,
holding up, forgetting they are human,
being slaves (as us) to ego thrusts,
they spent hours doing everything from laughing
to jealous fuming.

Bacon slices Socrates,
Spinoza fells all others at their knees,
Marx from Hegel snatching bits to suit his needs,
discarding that which doesn't fit the
doctrine paying patrons sought embraced-
thinkers bronzed, I contemplate, are mortal,
foibled, only great,
in that they beat other minds (like mine)
by sole virtue
of pen to paper before my time.

Hello boet

WoW what a tribute to those that came and went before us also a lesson to us from them that you remind us of. We tend to forget those who inspire us in the first place. Grate write. God bless

Greetings
Rus

Your words here are as the spoken steps of the ladder of your own minds intellectual free will sumation derived from consumption of historical information free from the blinding n misleading learnt n implanted thought patterns of belief in opposing independant knowledge of self n soul surrenderd compliantly to to ruling elite n status quo the schooled prison .
Lol even I am lost. But I feel like I f I was to follow you' I wouldn't need to worry' you n your words r the wisdom I somehow know click my heels n take me safely home. So cudos. N xxx thankyou.
