springtime in a city

The grey streets despise me As I wander poutfully Over the river's murky stream Of countless dreams long-forgotten
And in it flow the ruthless lies we Told each other too proud to see That the the world of our dream In reality is rotten
I see you everywhere since you went, In every window in every street And all the dreams that I forgot Are lost and no one to remind me
What was it? I have to relent On you, If ever we should meet Again, if in a dream - or not You will know how to find me

I like the quaintness and the first stanza.
Great job!
Reminds me of the 1930's in Paris! |

Love this line, ' the grey streets despise me' I'm a city dweller in the mean streets of St. Louis. So you got my attention.
