My 9 year old daughter was with me on a trip and just said this "Standing on the mountain of my life" it inspired my first attempt at poetry without too much rhyme. I trust it will fall gently on the reader's eyes. It's also how I imagined I would feel at the end of my life.
30:03:2015....
Standing on the mountain of my life. Looking down over the valley of my past. I was amazed to see such beauty. Taking to account the hardships I've endured. And false promises that lured.
While I journeyed through my valley. I was totally blind and oblivious to its beauty. All I could see was the pain and suffering. I overlooked the happiness. And missed the flower's loveliness.
On a few occasions I had to cross that river. Standing on its bank fearing its rage. Foaming and roaring I wondered, What tragedies does it hold? The mere thought of crossing it left me cold.
And when the night fell so dark. I found shelter under the trees. The wind whispering softly over head. I closed my eyes and felt peace. Enjoying a quiet night's sleep.
But now standing up here. Gazing over my valley. The flowers and pebbles all clustered. I see the bigger picture. One of beauty and luster.
The river brought purification. And the ground gave stability. I ate of the sweet fruits. All my needs were abundantly fulfilled. My life to the fullest I had lived.
Now, only now I come to realize. How important balance is. How the one can't exist without the other. How Life as We do, needs all aspects. Absolutely irrelevant how abstract.
It's this uncanny yet apparent chaos. That brings me to this pivotal point. Standing on the mountain of my life. Looking over the valley of my past. Realizing my blessings were so vast.

As I said before, I love where the inspiration came from.
I generally say don't fix something that's not broken but in this case it seems this poem became even more stunning.
Keepa writin'!

I wonder how many times we stop and stand where you are, and believe that we understand….only to stop again years later, and again and again. Each time the valley looks different as you say. You are taking us on a journey of counting our blessings…taking stock…looking back with gratitude for that which we were too busy to appreciate. Life gets in our way.
A clairvoyant reminder that whether your glass is half empty or half full doesn't matter--the fact that there is still room to fill it is the true gift. Your words pour from your heart as wine from a glass. A toast Mr. Reinhardt..to life!
