He hardly spoke a word amidst company Till your spark created a trail blaze Jeers and taunts are your specialty Especially to degrade his own certainties
I watch all the while; as if you truly know Silence is key to this method of mine Words will give me away so they're put aside Rather my conscience and wit will be my guide
Alas he is my ally Even if his flaw drew him as the villain Provocation allowed you to catch off guard The man whom for your sake tried so hard

Sounds like your friend, based on your words of course, was trying to be a good friend and seen in the limelight of depreciation from those he looked to for company and love.
Hopefully, that ends with as few bridges burned as possible, and the ones that remained throughout, he realizes are much stronger than the ones that were burned. |
