I try not to be so mad when you ask me to hang out
even though I know you asked someone else first
because you can't really help who you connect with
And I know that I wasn't technically your last choice
But I'm sure that I was also never your first either
for some reason its worse ,being an afterthought
rather than being completely forgotten or ignored
because then you know how close you really were
to being remembered, to being the original choice
Maybe that's the reason I'm bad at choosing friends
I'm willing to choose anyone who will choose me first
No matter what other bad choices I know they make
Because nothings worse than waiting around for you
to call me back about plans we made a week ago only
to say that you're sorry because you know I'll forgive you
and that there's still a small part of me that wants you
to think of me that way, as a kind and forgiving person
Because I still hope that one day you'll call me first
which I also know deep inside you never will because
you know that no matter what you do I will wait for you
